Odds & Ends
by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN
Believe it or not, it’s time to think about buying school supplies, school clothes, etc. Where has the time gone!
That’s what Adelene Wisian was asking at her 86th birthday party on July 19. Daughter Beverly Kleen, granddaughter Kristy Saxon and great-granddaughters Emily and Tea honored Adelene with a party at the Emeritus Assisted Living in San Marcos. A group of nieces and nephews, brother, Clarence Heideman, sisters-in-law, Ellie Schawe and Myrtle Heideman all enjoyed the visit, along with homemade cake and ice cream. All wished Adelene many more birthdays.

Charlie Orn also invited members and visitors to come to St. John on Saturday, Aug. 11, for a chicken fry. The Men’s Fellowship will do their annual chicken fry with all the trimmings (which the members are asked to bring). You may want to stay and play dominos or any other favorite games. That’s at 6 p.m. on Aug. 11.
The Women’s Guild will also meet on Saturday, Aug. 11, for their noon meeting.
The quilt that will be raffled at the Harvest Festival is completed and displayed at church on Sunday mornings. Its blocks are shades of blue cross-stitch and are enhanced by various shades of blue printed material. Members of the Women’s Guild embroidered the squares with cross-stitching, and Becky Riddle and Debbie Fetech (the Siemering sisters) pieced and quilted the beautiful quilt. Thanks, ladies. Thanks also to Jean Collier for the work and encouragement.
