Friends of the Buda Library will announce the winners in the summer writing contest for young writers on Tuesday, Aug. 7. The Buda Library will host the awards program for Summer Reading at Buda Elementary School on Thursday, Aug. 9, with title logs 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and time logs 7 to 8 p.m. Teen awards ceremony and game night is Friday, Aug. 10, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Story time at the Buda Library will end for the month on Wednesday, Aug. 15. The program will resume in September.

The best birthday present that JoAnn Thames could get for her 75th birthday on Sunday, July 29, was spending the day in her home. Thames had been in a rehab facility for the past few weeks. Pat (Jones) Shoemaker is also back home after having surgery and spending a number of days in rehab. Shirley Fowler is in the hospital due to an infection.

Wishing a happy anniversary to Helene and Mike Carroll who celebrated 45 years of marriage on June 17 and birthday wishes to Helene who will turn 70 on Aug. 4. More birthday wishes go out to Margaret Goebler, Butch Grizzle and Jeff Barton on Aug. 2; Andrea Bishop, Alice Chisholm and Marguerite Gillis on Aug. 3; Elmo Battles and Adele Neel on Aug. 6; Buda City Councilman Todd Ruge, Dianne Duley and Eddie Ellison on Aug. 7.
This month marks the seventh year that Pediatric Junction has been providing professional, loving care to the young children in our area at their office on Railroad Street in Buda. Thank you to Dr. Karyn Collins and Dr. Anna Lincoln and all the staff for your special care.

Just a reminder that “First Thursday” will not be held this month, but do plan to come to downtown Buda on Thursday, Sept. 6, for big doings as the old town area prepares for special activities for “Remembering Buda.”
