David Ralph Tinney Jr., 73, was born in Robstown, Texas, April 29, 1939, and went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2012. He received his engineering degree at the University of Houston, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves Nuclear Weapons department. Jobs included master-designer and engineer as well as business owner. He and his wife settled in Central Texas in the early 1990s. David had a servant’s heart and he enjoyed volunteering at Seton Hospital in Kyle, volunteering with a local prison ministry, and also was a member of the Kyle Area Senior Citizens group, where he made many friends in the community and enjoyed playing cards. Having fought a brave battle with lung disease and cancer, he leaves his beloved wife, Frances (Williams) Tinney after 52 years of marriage; his daughter Shanna Atchley and her husband Larry; his son Chad Tinney and his wife Summer. He had six beautiful grandchildren – Thadd and Trevor Atchley and Carmen, Aisling, Toby and Mickey Tinney. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Carlile and her husband Jim, and a brother, Larry Tinney and his wife Frances Jane along with several nieces and nephews.
There will be a cremation with no visitation. A memorial service has been scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Old City Hall at 101 Burleson Street in Kyle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider donating to your favorite charity in David’s name. We especially thank our hospice caregivers and the love and support from family and friends. David is now living with our Lord, now free from illness and pain forever.
