Rodolfo “Popo” Ortiz, 83, of Kyle, passed away June 4, 2011. He was born July 7, 1927, in Kline, Texas to Francisco and Amelia (Salgado) Ortiz.
Rodolfo was well known to his family and friends as being a hard worker. Whether he was working at a construction site, farming, or helping out with various church functions, he was someone who would put all his effort into whatever project he happened to be working on at the time.
Rodolfo was a master craftsman at woodwork. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening. The love of his life, however, was his family, and he enjoyed being surrounded by them.
Rodolfo is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Carlos Ortiz. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Otilia Hernandez Ortiz of Kyle; his children Rudy Ortiz Jr., and his wife Cindy of Michigan, Richard Ortiz of Kyle, Oscar Ortiz and his wife Sylvia of Colorado, Gracie Ruiz and her husband James of Nebraska, Ramiro Ortiz and his wife Amanda of Kyle, Norma Appel and her husband Dan of Washington, Amelia Ortiz Schuh and her husband Aaron of Washington and Adrian Ortiz and his wife Becky of Pennsylvania. Rodolfo is also survived by his grandchildren Maria, Tony, Theresa, Angie, Oscar Jr., Daisy, Sarah, Michael, Stephanie, Derek, Ram, Amy, Alex, Damien, Ravyn, Morgan and Maddox; also by nine great-grandchildren and by his sister Guadalupe DeLaCruz; and by other loving relatives.
Graveside Services were held Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the Pavilion at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.
