Staff Report

More Texans will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine soon.

Beginning on Monday, all adults will be allowed to receive a vaccine, according to an announcement by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). While an increase in vaccine supplies is expected for next week, DSHS has directed vaccine providers to prioritize adults 80 years or older.

DSHS will launch a website next week to allow people to register for a vaccine through some public health providers. The public can enroll in the Texas Public Health Vaccine Scheduler to identify upcoming vaccine clinics and receive notifications when new clinics and appointments become available. For more information about additional providers, please visit dshs.texas.gov/covidvaccine.

A toll-free number will also be available to provide assistance with making an appointment with a participating provider or locating another provider once a vaccine is available.
