The Lehman High School Color Guard recently closed out their 2011 competition season in Pearland at the state championships, a huge leap from past years, bringing home the state bronze medal. Friends and supporters note the team’s success at the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships represents a huge and continuing effort by a committed group of young people focused on excellence.
Johnnie B. Green, sponsor, has led his students through a heady season, accumulating a host of trophies and medals. Third place in the state championships brings a promotion to the next division of competition for the 2011-12 season.
Calling his students a “fantastic group of performers,” Green passed along his gratitude to a growing host of supporters and well-wishers.
Just prior to the state meet, the Lehman Color Guard turned in an outstanding performance at San Antonio O’Connor High School, earning a first place ranking going into the final meet. Prior to that, the Lobo Color Guard had scored big at Bowie High School, continuing a climb that had started at Vista Ridge back in January and gained steam at their own locally-hosted meet in February.
The Color Guard’s program for 2011 was titled “Spiders!” and featured music from the Blue Man Group and the Kronos Quartet.
