The city of Uhland has gone green!

Odds & Ends

by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

IESI, a garbage disposal and recycling company, is serving the city of Uhland and others in the surrounding area that chose to be part of the recycling and garbage disposal to keep Uhland and the area clean. We never realized how many recycle items we were disposing of as trash, until we started using the “bin.” That is a much better way than to use the ditches in the community.

Congratulations to Samantha Avalos and Michelle Janicki in completing confirmation classes and being confirmed by Rev. Hotop on Sunday, Aug. 28, at St. John Lutheran Church in Uhland. Samantha is the daughter of David and Victoria Avalos, and Michelle is the daughter of Mark and Susan Janicki and the granddaughter of Robert and Barbara Hanna. All are members of St. John. Welcome to the two young ladies.

It is time to start thinking of the Women’s Guild annual Harvest Festival to be held at the Uhland Community Center on Oct. 15. There will be a garage sale, country store and bake sale, children’s games and more. Don’t forget the turkey and dressing and all the trimmings meal at noon that day. Help and donations are needed and a sign-up sheet for members is in the back of the church.

Best wishes and thinking of you in our prayers to Doris King who will have knee surgery. A card or two would help her know we are thinking of her.
