STAFF REPORT

Friends of the Family Justice Center will host a fundraiser for its domestic violence prevention efforts Saturday at Dick’s Classic Garage, 120 Stagecoach Trail in San Marcos.

Boosters want to build the Family Justice Center in the Village at San Marcos social services campus on Reimer Avenue off Hunter Road. The museum’s extensive collection of classic cars will complement the fundraiser’s Route 66 theme, organizers said.

“While it’s easy to idealize this era, what we know now is domestic violence happens in the seemingly happiest homes on the quietest streets in the best neighborhoods,” said Nora Linares-Moeller, the group’s event chair.

The event will run 6-9 p.m. and be catered by Cool Mint Cafe. Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased online. www.haysfriends.org.
