Shot clinics offered

The Hays County Health Department offers the final two of a series of vaccine clinics for Hays CISD middle school students at Chapa Middle School tomorrow, May 12, and at Simon Middle School Wednesday, May 25. The clinics operate from 9 a.m. – noon. The $10 cost covers all required vaccines and vaccination forms are available from school nurses. The district encourages all children to see their regular healthcare provider when possible and to get vaccinations early to be ready for the next school year.


Star Strutters offer Spring Show

The Lehman High School Star Strutters offer their annual Spring Show this Friday, May 13, 7 p.m. at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center. This year’s show is titled “Time of Our Lives” and features dances form the Star Strutters Dance Team, the Junior Varsity Dance Class, sponsor Barbara Stanger’s dance classes, the Star Strutters moms, and the upcoming year’s team. Strangler promises “team dances, solos, and ensembles in a variety of music that includes jazz, modern, pom, lyrical, hip hop, and kick.” Admission is $5 for students, $7 for adults, and all advance tickets are $5. “Fun in the Sun” Friday

The Dahlstrom Middle School Mustang Choir invites the community to its show, “Fun in the Sun,” this Friday, May 13, in the campus cafeteria. Two showings are being offered, one at 4:30 p.m.(recommended for Dahlstrom teachers and students) and one at 7:15 p.m. There is a suggested admission donation of $3 for students and $5 for adults.


Tech Showcase next Wednesday

The Hays CISD Technology Showcase 2011, I<3 IT! is set for next Wednesday, May 18, 6-8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. It is the sixth annual staging of the constantly growing event, deigned to allow teachers and students the opportunity to share with the community, fellow teachers, and students the “out of this world” technology projects that are happening in the district.


Lobo Academic Awards set

Parents and community members are invited to the Lehman High School Academic Awards Assembly, set for Wednesday, May 18. A 9:30 a.m. program honors 9th and 10th-graders and a 10:30 a.m. program honors 11th and 12th-graders. Honors go to students who’ve made honor roll all year and who’ve never missed a class. As a highlight, each teacher bestows the prestigious Lehman Award on a student they feel best exemplifies the Lehman motto, “Achieving Excellence as One with Integrity, Wisdom, and Pride.” Students receiving attendance and honor roll awards will receive notice this Friday, May 13. Lobo theater offers camp

The Lehman High School theater program is offering a June 13-17 summer camp that will feature a special Sunday, June 19, matinee performance by camp participants. The camp will run from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. daily and is available to second through sixth-graders. Held at the Lehman Theatre, it will be directed by LHS Theatre Director Marissa Meek, assisted by LHS students, assuring at least one helper for every three students. Pantomime, face-painting, stage make-up, costuming, and set and prop design and creation are all part of the camp.
