Lehman Band Winter Concert Thursday
The Lehman High School Band Winter Concert is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 8, 7 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center. Admission is free and those taking it in will arrive at the PAC to find the Lehman Jazz Ensemble playing in the foyer. The concert in the auditorium begins at 7 p.m. with the Johnnie Green-directed Concert Band, followed by the Chris Barrera-directed Symphonic Band. Director Joey Lucita leads the Lehman Wind Ensemble to close the show.
Project Graduation Christmas Bazaar this Saturday
Hays High School Project Graduation Christmas Bazaar is set for Saturday, Dec. 10. Vendors are being sought to sell Christmas holiday items at the event. For those not familiar with Project Graduation, it’s a committee created to raise funds for a safe, sober graduation night for graduating seniors, in this case Hays High School seniors. Lehman High School will be fundraising later in the school year.
Garage sale at Live Oak Saturday
The Live Oak Academy PTSA hosts its second annual garage sale Saturday, Dec. 10. The school is accepting donations including gently used clothes, furniture, household items, toys, athletic equipment and other salable items. Donations may be dropped at the school located at 4820 Jack C. Hays Trail, just south of the Hays High School campus. Booths may be purchased for $10 for those wanting to use the event for their own mini-garage sale. DMS Choir sings at Bass Concert Hall
The Dahlstrom Middle School Varsity Treble Choir, “Chorale,” will perform at Bass Concert Hall on the campus of University of Texas Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m. The group won the right to perform on the stage by winning the 2011 Muse Award Contest, hosted by Majic 95.5 for Middle School Group Vocal. Additionally, Mustang 8th-grader Faith Broddrick won the Middle School Solo Vocal division of the contest and the standout soloist will also perform individually at Bass that afternoon. The concert is free and open to the public.
Annual Winter Follies Sunday at PAC
The annual Hays High School-Barton Middle School-Dahlstrom Middle School Winter Band Follies are set for Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Performing Arts Center. Dahlstrom takes the stage first with a 1:30 p.m. start time. The Mustangs’ Sixth Grade Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble perform in that order. The Barton Bobcats take the stage at 3:30 p.m. with their Sixth Grade Band, followed, in order, by their Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. The Hays High School contingent takes the stage at 5:45 p.m. with its Symphonic Band II, followed by the Symphonic Band I. The Rebels’ Wind Ensemble highlights the show’s conclusion with an expected 6:40 p.m. curtain time.
Barton choir sings Monday at the PAC
The Barton Middle School choirs will perform in concert Monday, Dec. 12, 6:30 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center. Director Katherine Moore says the program will include the Bobcats’ Sixth Grade Choir, JV Treble Choir, Men’s Choir and Varsity Treble Choir. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited.
Elementary choirs concert Tuesday
Campus choirs from Science Hall Elementary, Kyle Elementary, Carpenter Hill Elementary, Tobias Elementary and the Children’s Honor Choir will all perform in concert Tuesday, Dec. 13, 6:30 p.m. at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and the public is warmly invited to enjoy the holiday music and fun.
