Celebrate recycling

Kyle Parks & Recreation
by KERRY URBANOWICZ

In honor of National Recycling Month, your Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is doing our part by asking the community to participate in our two special events held in April by recycling specific materials.

We are asking that citizens donate the following materials for our Earth Day Share-Fair: egg cartons, coffee tins with lids, vegetable cans, 6 pack plastic soda can rings, newspapers, gallon milk jugs, two or three liter soda bottles, 20 ounce soda bottles with lids, plastic water bottles, soda can tabs, old magazines, cardboard tubes (such as toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubes) and wire hangers. Please make sure that all items have been rinsed out.

Join us on Saturday, April 16 from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at City Square Park as this event will be filled with environmentally friendly activities and crafts for the kids, vendors previewing environmentally friendly items and mini-workshops about stewardship and conservation. All materials collected will be used to complete the activities and crafts. Blue bins are located inside of Kyle City Hall for items to be dropped off.

In addition, we are holding our Plastic Easter Egg Recycling Drive for the 12th annual Easter Egg-Stravaganza. Now is the perfect time to start your spring cleaning and get rid of plastic Easter eggs that have been stored in your closets since last year.

Please recycle your clean and gently used plastic Easter eggs at Kyle City Hall or at HEB Plus (near the “Exit” doors). All Easter eggs collected will be used during our Easter Egg Hunts on Wednesday, April 20 at Gregg-Clarke Park from 5-8 p.m. Come enjoy free carnival games, age-appropriate Easter egg hunts, vendors, inflatables, rock wall climbing and much more.
