Car show & BBQ coming in May

Odds & Ends
by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

What beautiful weather to go camping, fishing, play baseball, mow the yard. Yes! The grass is growing, at least at our house. We had about ¼ inch of rain on the Hillvue Farm last week.

The weather is almost perfect for outdoor sports, including track meets. Ranson Moore represented Barton Jr. Middle School in the district track meet held at Goodnight Jr. High in San Marcos. He won district in the pole vault competition.

Congratulations, Raney. He is the son of Mike and Debbie Moore of Kyle. Yes, he is also our great grandson. An Oma can brag, can’t she?

The Men’s Fellowship of St. John Lutheran Church will meet Saturday, April 9 at 9 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. They always enjoy a breakfast prepared by one of the “fellows.” They are busy preparing for the classic car show and barbeque to be held on May 21 on the St. John Church grounds.

The gathering of monetary gifts for the food bank was held on March 27. A very generous collection was reported. The Caldwell and Hays County food banks will be recipients of this and also non-perishable food items. Thanks to all.

Jim Alexander had more surgery. Jim was injured in a motorcycle accident last year and is still recovering. Our prayers go with him and also with Lois Daugherty, George Lyons and Cheryl Shelley, who are all doing well.
