King Ranch Chicken Casseroles will be for sale by the Onion Creek Senior Citizens in September. Two sizes will be available - $12 (serves 4-6) and $17 (serves 8-10) and ready for pick up on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Get your order in early, deadline is Monday, Sept. 12. Orders are available by phone by calling 295-2416; 295-2971 or 468-4451 or email: [email protected]. Proceeds from the casserole sale will benefit the senior center building fund.

Prayers continue for Gunner Thames and his family as he continues to show signs of improvement. Gunner was critically injured in a rodeo accident on Aug. 19. Friends of Gunner’s have planned a benefit for Saturday, Oct. 15. The event will be at Nutty Brown Café on Highway 290 near Dripping Springs.


There will be barbecue plates for sale from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., silent and  live auctions from 3 to 7 p.m. and a dance from 8 to midnight featuring Rusty Doherty & The Country Sounds. If you would like to learn more about Medicare, plan to attend the senior forum on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Ministries, 401 RR 967 in Buda. A panel of experts will be there to answer your questions about Medicare coverage. Comfort Connection and the Onion Creek Senior Citizens will sponsor the forum.

Time again for “First Thursday” in downtown Buda. The monthly event is Sept. 1. Art Around Buda will have art demos at Buda Library and art exhibits at Buda City Hall, the grand opening for Rollin Hot Grill (formally Main Street Café) and store specials and refreshments at many of the shops. Come on downtown to see what is going on.
