Warren Ketteman, the executive director of the Buda Economic Development Corp., is a finalist for the same position in Marble Falls.
Ketteman said he was very interested in becoming the next director of the Marble Falls Economic Development Corp.
“I’ve always admired Marble Falls,” he said. “It’s a beautiful little community, and I’ve always thought, ‘You know, if I ever got the opportunity, that might be a city I’d like to work at.’”
The corporation’s board members held special meetings on Friday and Tuesday to discuss the hiring. The deliberations were held during executive session, and no action was taken at either meeting. A third meeting has not been scheduled.
Buda Mayor Sarah Mangham said local officials were aware of Ketteman’s interest in the Marble Falls job.
“He would be greatly missed if he is selected for that position,” she said.
Ketteman is one of two finalists for the position after the board’s first choice declined the job offer to accept a similar post in Bastrop. The other finalist is the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce, which has proposed to handle executive director duties for $77,000, according to the Marble Falls newspaper, The Highlander.
The job would pay about $100,000 if awarded to an individual. Members of the Marble Falls Economic Development Corp.’s hiring committee did not return calls seeking comment on Tuesday.
