Zippin’ by at 80

Buda Bits

by SANDRA GRIZZLE

Zip-lining at 80! Yes that is what Bob Elder recently did along with daughter Ruth Verver. Elder turned 80 in April and with Father’s Day at hand, he was invited to zip-line with his daughter at Cypress Valley Canopy Tours near Spicewood. Wife Audrey and daughter Julie Jacques came along also to watch and provide the picnic lunch. Elder said that “it was a thrilling activity” and recommends it and yes, he plans to do it again.

On June 20, Bob Elder was re-installed as the 2011-2012 president of the Seton Medical Center Hays Volunteers. He had been the first president during the organization days. In this capacity, he presides over quarterly meetings that address volunteer issues, especially as they relate to hospital activities. He also acts as liaison between the volunteer organization and the Seton Hays staff and administration.
