The Toons and Tunes Summer Series runs every Friday evening beginning June 3 through August 5 at City Park in downtown Buda. The series is free to the public and presented by the City of Buda and Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and snacks. Concessions will be provided by the Buda Lions Club and Kona Ice. The summer schedule is as follows:
• June 3 (Movie) – Karate Kid (PG) at 9 p.m.
• June 10 (Concert) – RockStella and the Hayden Thomas Band at 8 p.m.
• June 17 (Movie) – Shrek Forever (PG) at 9 p.m.
• June 24 (Movie) – Furry Vengeance (PG) at 9 p.m.
• July 8 (Movie) – Classic movie: Breakfast at Tiffany’s at 9 p.m.
• July 15 (Movie) – The Last Airbender (PG) at 9 p.m.
• July 22 (Movie) – Despicable Me (PG) at 9 p.m.
• July 29 (Movie) – Yogi Bear (PG) at 9 p.m.
• August 5 (Concert) – Jim Wyly and Curtis Grimes at 8 p.m.

Mark your calendars for the free annual Red, White, and Buda Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Show at City Park on July 4. This year’s event is being organized entirely by the City of Buda. The day’s activities will kick off at 10 a.m. with a Children’s Parade going down Main Street starting near the old post office building next to Garcia’s and ending at City Park. From 10 a.m. to noon there will be free kids inflatable activities and a magician. Concessions will be provided by the Buda Chamber of Commerce.
Beginning at 6 p.m., there will be a free concert headlined by The Trishas. There will be paid inflatable kids activities and concessions will be available. The City of Buda has procured the largest fireworks display ever in Buda as we celebrate our nation’s Independence Day. The free fireworks show will be fired at 9:30 p.m. and will last for approximately 20-24 minutes. Folks are welcome to bring a picnic, blanket, and/or lawn chairs. The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting your sponsorship for the annual Red, White and Buda Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Show. The deadline to become a sponsor is May 25.
