WIMBERLEY -- Many special moments of life have been left behind, including the theatre. The Wimberley Players found a way to bring live entertainment to people, even during the pandemic, to be viewed from home.
The Gin Game will be playing on the Wimberley Players stage on the weekends of Feb. 5 through Feb. 14, which could mean some plans for Valentine’s Day.
The Wimberley Players have invested in streaming equipment to stream shows for viewers all year. There are four cameras, allowing for a better view of the theatre so watchers do not get a stagnant view of the show.
There will also be an opportunity to watch the shows live, but the maximum occupancy is 32 seats per live show. Seats will be socially distanced and set up for groups of two or four.
The Gin Game is about Fonsia and Weller, who strike up a friendship after meeting at a nursing home. He teaches her how to play gin and she gives him companionship. They learn more about one another and themselves during their games of gin and grow their relationship.
Linda Ford will be performing the role of Fonsia and Michael Howard will be Weller. Ford and Howard first performed together in 1969 and eventually went on to get married.
Showtimes for starting Feb. 5 through Feb. 14, along with prices are included below:
Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM
Sundays at 2:30 PM
Live tickets for adults: $22; student tickets with ID: $18.
Streaming tickets start at $20 plus a processing fee, which are sold through Broadway on Demand.
