On Center

Now this sounds like nothing but fun: On Friday night at 8:30 p.m., Parks and Rec is throwing open the gates to the Kyle Pool and inviting the whole town to the first “Dive-In Movie”. Spend the afternoon in Gregg-Clarke Park playing basketball, pitching washers and swinging on the monkey bars. And then, just before the sun goes down, grab your tube or float and head for the pool to watch “Despicable Me” on the big screen, floating under the stars. You can’t bring food in but the concession stand will be open and admission is free. They can only let the first 250 folks through the gate, so time it right.
And summer is officially over for the Kyle Library after their big End of Summer Reading Club Celebration and now they are settling back into their regular story time schedule. There are only 25 days left of summer for district students and the days are getting hotter and longer with nothing to do and no money to do it so remind your older kiddos about the Buda Library Summer Essay Contest. All they need is a Buda Public Library Card (drop by and they’ll be happy to sign them up) and a bit of summertime inspiration. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Hays Free Press, there’s fame and fortune in it for the winners but they need to get writing: The deadline for entries is Monday (295-5899).
