Back to School Night Aug. 18
The final steps to the start of the 2011-2012 school year are marked off tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 18, 6:30 p.m., as all 13 Hays CISD elementary schools host their Back to School Night. Students and parents get to meet their new teachers, receive orientation to their new classrooms, and get information on the coming school year’s activities. Area motorists are advised to use caution around these massively-attended events. The same advice is even more important with the actual start of school next Monday, August 22.
Middle School schedules pick up Aug. 18
All Hays CISD middle schools – Simon, Wallace, Chapa, Dahlstrom and Barton – are making student schedules available tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, Aug. 18, from noon – 6:30 p.m. Wallace Middle School hosts its WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) program for incoming 6th graders tomorrow morning, from 8 a.m. - noon, directly leading into the start of middle school schedule pickup.
Correction on Buda Principal bio
A recent story in our paper on Hays CISD naming Charla Salmeron and Ann Conlee as the new principals of, respectively, Buda and Kyle elementary schools carried some incorrect information. Charla Salmeron received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. We extend our apologies for the inaccuracies to this always-smiling district administrator, her proud family and extended school community.
Negley Boo Hoo Breakfast this Monday
Parents of incoming kindergarten students at Negley Elementary School are invited to the Navigators’ annual “Boo Hoo Breakfast” this Monday, Aug. 22, 7:30 a.m. Campus Secretary Michelle Ackart says the event, sponsored by the Negley PTA, is designed “for new Kinder parents to bond.” The gathering is in the Navigators’ library, typically offers coffee, juice and breakfast snacks and lasts, Principal Will Webber says, “until the Kleenex runs out.” Precedent puts that at about an hour!
Camino Real Fall Round-up coming
Here’s first word on the annual Back to School Fall Roundup at Camino Real Elementary, sponsored by the Roadrunner PTA. The always-fun event is set for Saturday, Sept. 17, 8 a.m. - noon. Reservations for vendor booths are available now by contacting Anna Marie Dailey at [email protected]. Watch here for more details as they develop on this fun fall morning!
Barton PTA contact offered
Official word on it came in a little late for inclusion in our Back to School Edition last week, but parents of students at Barton Middle School should make note of their campus PTA contact this year. Stephi Motal will be serving as President and she can be reached at 293-6290, [email protected], or Facebook page: Barton Middle School PTA. Best of luck to Stephi, her officers and volunteers, and all district PTA workers.
