Mattie Hall Bryant (1914-2011)

Mattie Hall Bryant, 97, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 6, 2011. She was born in Driftwood to Laurel Fenton Hall and Katie Dorroh Hall on March 9, 1914. She is survived by three sons, Everett and wife Nancy, Gene and wife Terri; and David and wife Linda. She was affectionately known as “Mamaw” by 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years, Arnold Woodrow Bryant, five brothers and one sister. Mattie graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College. She and Arnold were longtime residents of both Austin and Wimberley. They were devout Christians and longtime members of Hyde Park Christian Church and Driftwood United Methodist Church. Mattie was a very loving and giving person and volunteered for many years at St. David’s Hospital.


Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011 at Driftwood United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Driftwood United Methodist Church or Austin Hospice Christopher House.
