Paul Logan Hastings Jr., 74, passed away peacefully at this home in Dripping Springs this past Friday, December 2, 2011.
Paul was born and raised in Judsonia, Arkansas and joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Houston Police Department from 1959-1982, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He continued his work in law enforcement as a Hays County Deputy Sheriff from 1982-86, Chief Investigator for the Hays County District Attorney’s office 1986-88, and served two terms as Hays County Sheriff from 1988-1996.
Paul was one of three children born to the late Paul and Mae Hastings. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patty Hastings and brother, Dan Louis Hastings. He is survived by his beloved sister, Helen Laverne Nantze and will be forever remembered by his devoted children, sons, Russell David Hastings and wife, Mary, Jeffrey Logan Hastings and wife, Ana, Brian Paul Hastings and wife Julieann and daughter, Laura Elizabeth Hastings. He was also blessed with six wonderful grandchildren, Kristin Nicole Hastings, Avery Brooke Hastings, Christopher Paul Hastings, Ethan Patrick Hastings, Benjamin Paul Hastings and Logan Ryan Hastings, and countless other relatives and friends whom were blessed to know him.
Paul touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. He will be forever remembered for his passion for music, kindness toward animals, and love of the Texas Hill Country.
A memorial service celebrating Paul’s life will be held Saturday, December 10th at 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Dripping Springs - 301 Hays Country Acres Road, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.
