At Pet Prevent a Litter (PALS), it’s all about fixing dogs and cats. The month of July is extra special since they are offering “free” pet spay and neuter through Friday, July 22. Since there is a serious pet overpopulation in Hays County and there are not enough homes for all the puppies and kittens born each day, reducing pet population is critical. PALS is joining with the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter & Adoption Center to offer all Hays County residents these veterinary services regardless of income – while funds are available. Just call 512-754-PALS or email [email protected].

What a spectacular sight the Kyle fireworks provided the night of July 4. The night was lit up and could be seen as far away as Wimberley. Looking forward to next year’s event. A thought for next year – how about Buda and Kyle joining forces and have the fireworks combined and again at Plum Creek Golf Course? Be nice if the city councils of both towns would work toward such an event for all the residents of the area. There is plenty of parking, a safe place for the fireworks to be set off and with the funds from both towns, it would be a huge display lighting up the Hays County sky. What do you say?

Come downtown Buda for “first Thursday” of the month on July 7, from 5 to 9 p.m. and enjoy the offerings of our historical district. If you are looking for a good meal, try out one of the restaurants in the downtown area. Just a note that Buda Grocery & Grill will not have dinners under the stars for the months of July and August. They will be back in September when hopefully the weather will be a little bit cooler. The free wine tasting is still on from 6 to 8 p.m. at the store. Also from 6 to 8 p.m., Art Around Town will present “Splatterfest” under the oaks on Main Street. See you Thursday on Main Street.
