In an effort to enhance our college-going culture, our district celebrated “Generation Texas” during which students were exposed to the advantages of continuing their education after high school. Hays High School enjoyed the experience earlier this semester. Here at Lehman High, we had many spirit-filled activities to reinforce the concept. Students and staff were encouraged to participate in the dress-up days for the entire week. Staff members also decorated their doors with their alma mater signs to demonstrate school spirit!

Our day-by-day activities included a wide range of fun reminders of what the week is all about. On opening Monday, attire for the day was keyed as “Dress for Success” and students were encouraged to wear the attire of professions to which they aspire. Their event for the day was a resume-writing workshop during lunches and after school. The next day it was “Revenge of the Nerds; Higher Education is Hot” and students were prompted to wear glasses, pocket protectors, and button downs! The University of Texas-San Antonio visited the campus and juniors and seniors were invited to meet their representatives.

Wednesday brought a “College Rocks – Wear Your Rock Star Gear” day and Texas State University visited campus, again with juniors and seniors invited to meet them. Thursday was College Shirt Day, with the Lobo faculty wearing shirts from their alma mater and students wearing gear from the college of their choice. A college application workshop was held during the day and until the late afternoon after school.

The culminating activity for the week included encouragement for all to “wear camouflage and hunt for the right college or career choice” on Hunt for Colleges and Careers Day. Students and advisors from across the district met for an early morning college and career chat.
