City of Llano hires away Buda city secretary Milam

MILAM

STAFF REPORT

Buda’s city secretary is leaving for the same job in Llano.

Toni Milam’s last day is Friday. She has worked for Buda for nearly eight years and has been the city secretary since April 2007. Prior to that, she worked three decades for Southwestern Bell. Last week, the Llano City Council hired Milam from a pool of 24 candidates. She responded to questions via email.

Why are you leaving Buda?

My husband Kelvin and I purchased our “retirement home” on Lake Buchanan, near the city of Llano, about three years ago, so this job opportunity could not have come at a better time for us. I look forward to working for the city of Llano until we make the decision to officially retire to the lake.

What will you miss about Buda?

What I will miss the most will be working with the residents and citizens of Buda. Their involvement in the community has made it a great place to work, live and play.

Any parting words?

I leave the city in great hands and will always have an eye on what’s going on. I cannot say enough about the great employees that are in place, and working with all of them has been a real treasure.
