Buda Bits

Along with the many activities for the children, the Buda Public Library has something new just for adults. Buda Book Buddies, the first book club for adults had their first meeting Tuesday evening. The first book, “Room,” a novel by Emma Donohue was shared and discussed. The book club will meet every fourth Tuesday from 6 until 7:30 p.m. until November. The next meeting will be August 23 at the library.
The Little America Miniature Horses will be at Buda Library Thursday, July 28 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and again from 3 to 4 p.m. All ages are invited and it is always fun to see the horses.
Deadline for the summer essay contest sponsored by the Friends of the Buda Library and co-sponsored by Buda Public Library and Hays Free Press is Monday, August 1st. Buda Library card holders between the ages of 9-18 and living in Hays County can enter the Young Writers Essay Contest. There are two age divisions 9-13 and 14-18. Choose one of the themes, “What the Library Means to Me,” “My Favorite Activity at the Library” or “The Future of Libraries.” Start writing and just maybe you will be a cash winner. Starting out the first day of August with birthday wishes to Jesse Logan; Jeff Barton and Butch Grizzle on Aug. 2; Andrea Bishop, Alice Chisholm and Marguerite Gillis on Aug. 3.
Congratulations to Steve and Charlotte Quisenberry on their 21st wedding anniversary on July 27. Also best wishes to Buda City Council member Todd Ruge and wife Elizabeth on their fifth wedding anniversary on Aug. 1.
