Intangibles: Despite the fact Lehman held a 14-7 halftime lead over the Rebels last season, this is unquestionably the Lobos’ best chance to finally beat Hays. The Lehman defense has looked like a brick wall at times this year, allowing only five points per game, and the Hays offense that was supposed to run like a well-oiled machine has had a few rusty gears all season long. The Rebels have averaged more than a dozen penalties, which cost Hays dearly in losses to Anderson and Hutto. On offense, Lehman can beat you with dazzling running back Levi Medley or through the air with the arm of quarterback Matt Anguiano. Hays’ offense has shown signs of life this year, as quarterback Caleb Kimbro has passed for close to 750 yards and seven touchdowns and rushed for 325 more yards and four touchdowns, but the Rebels have also turned the ball over too often in key situations. This time around, Lehman gets rewarded for scheduling Hays as its homecoming game.
