HAYS CISD — A move by the Hays CISD trustees means Uhland Elementary School’s assistant principal will now take over the lead position.
Trustees approved Amanda Muro as the new principal at Ubland Elementary School.
Muro has 13 years of experience in education and has worked at HCISD since 2017.
“She is a passionate educator and leader who knows how to create an environment where all students can achieve success,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright. We are excited to promote Amanda from within our district to this campus leadership role.”
Before joining Hays CISD in 2017 as the assistant principal at Hemphill Elementary, Muro served as an instructional coach and a dual language coordinator in other districts. She started her career in education as a bilingual teacher in kindergarten, first and second grades, and as a high school English as a Second Language (ESL) newcomer teacher.
“I love our students and I want nothing more than to see them thrive throughout their academic careers,” Muro said. “Maintaining high expectations for both teachers and students, as well as the highly effective systems we have built, will keep our instructional focus targeted and will continue to yield academic growth campus wide.”
In, 2018, she was named the Hays CISD Assistant Principal of the Year. She has also earned awards in the district for leadership and improved student attendance.
Muro replaces Cynthia Vasquez, a long-time HCISD principal and teacher, who left the district to accept a promotion and leadership opportunity in another school district.
