Council gives Piscis a break in ROW dispute

Piscis Seafood & Mexican Grill, 311 S. Old Hwy. 81, won’t have to demolish a recently built patio that encroaches on city-owned right-of-way.

The restaurant’s owners built the patio over a weekend in October without proper permitting or surveying, building official Mario Perez said. About 10 inches of one corner of the patio lies in the right-of-way; two-thirds of the addition sits within the required 15-foot construction setback from the property line, Perez said.

The city council approved a licensing agreement last week granting the restaurant’s owner permission to keep the patio where it is unless the city needs the property for future road widening or other work. Council member Jaime Sanchez cast the only vote in opposition.
