Norman Charles Schlemmer, Jr. (Charlie) was born January 10, 1929 to Norman and Aline Bass Schlemmer of Kyle. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. Charlie served on the Board of Directors for the Kyle State Bank. He was the fire chief for the Westlake Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years and later retired to a family ranch in Dripping Springs.
His wife, Mary Traylor Schlemmer, preceded Charlie in death. He leaves one daughter, Mary Ellen Barak; son-in-law, Frank J. Barak; and two grandchildren, Lara Ellen Peek and Justin Charles Barak.
