PAWS and PALS promote pets

Animals across Hays County are getting special attention this month. Through July 22, Pet Prevent a Litter (PALS) is joining with the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter and Adoption Center to offer Hays County residents free pet spay and neutering options. This process is a safe surgical procedure which provides significant health benefits to your pet:

• Prevents pregnancy and its complications.

• Eliminates the heat cycle.

• Reduces the urge to roam.

• Reduces the possibility of disease in the reproductive system.

• Eliminates testicular tumors and reduces prostate gland problems.

• In cats, reduces territorial marking behavior.

Hays County continues to experience a serious pet overpopulation problem and reducing the number animals is critical to saving lives. Contact PALS at 754-PALS or [email protected] to schedule an appointment for your pet.

On Friday, July 15, PAWS Shelter and Humane Society is hosting a 25th Anniversary Open House and Adopt-a-thon Weekend which begins with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Kyle Chamber of Commerce at 4:30 p.m with refreshments following. The Adopt-a-thon runs from Saturday, July 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to Sunday, July 17 from noon to 4 p.m. Adopters of PAWS dogs or cats will receive a leash or collar for their new pet, adoption moment photo and a 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Commemorative t-shirt.
