Remembrance ceremonies set to commemorate 9-11

From special concerts to keynote addresses, remembrances around Hays County and Central Texas will mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.


SATURDAY


Wimberley: Patriot Day Ceremony: A Day of Honor and Remembrance, 8:45 a.m., Veteran’s Memorial Plaza at the EmilyAnn Theatre and Gardens. Keynote address, County Judge Bert Cobb. Information, www.emilyann.org.


Austin: “9-11 and Beyond: The Texas National Guard in the War on Terror” exhibit grand opening. 9 a.m. F-16 exhibit opening, 11 a.m. ceremony, noon gallery opening; Texas Military Forces Museum, Camp Mabry. Information, 512-782-5659.


SUNDAY


Buda: 9/11 Ceremony, Cabela’s. 8:30 a.m. Kyle-Buda VFW Honor Guard will post colors and fire a volley.


San Marcos: “United We Sing” concert, 3 p.m., Evans Auditorium, Texas State University, corner of Sessoms and North LBJ Drive. Free admission. Heart of Texas Chorus.


Seguin: “Heroes” concert and Mid-Texas Symphony season opener, 4 p.m., Jackson Auditorium, Texas Lutheran University. Music includes “Lincoln Portrait” and “Lacrimosa et Benedictus” (For the Victims). Ticket information, 830-372-8089.
