STAFF REPORT
Hays CISD has hired three new elementary school principals that will take over their respective campuses next school year, officials announced Monday.
“My job as superintendent is to place people into positions that get the best results for the entire district, achieve optimal performance, and maximize the talents and skills of our campus leaders,” Superintendent Jeremy Lyon said.
Jason Certain has been selected to replace Jodie Wymore as the principal of Carpenter Hill Elementary School. Certain, who has been with the district since January 2006, is currently the assistant principal at Dahlstrom Middle School.
Certain has been in public education for 13 years, including time as a middle school health teacher and coach, a high school basketball coach, and a web design and business computer information systems teacher.
Wymore has accepted a job as the coordinator of principal leadership for Texas TAP: The System for Teacher and Student Advancement. In 1990, Wymore began her education career in the district as a student teacher at Kyle Elementary School. She has served as an instructional strategist, varsity soccer coach, and was the assistant principal and principal at Fuentes Elementary School before coming to Carpenter Hill.
Irma Flores-Brothers has been named the principal of Blanco Vista Elementary School. With a 30-year education record, Flores-Brothers has worked in the district since 2004 and is the current principal at Elm Grove Elementary School, which was recently named by the Austin American-Statesman as one of the top ten elementary schools in central Texas.
Cyndi Davis will return to Elm Grove Elementary as its new principal. She has worked in the district since 1995, serving as a teacher and coach, assistant principal at then Barton Junior High School and as the assistant principal at Elm Grove.
Davis has also served as the principal of Tobias and Blanco Vista elementary schools when both opened. She created the first magnet dual language program in the district.
