Mary C. Beaver Anderson (1923-2011)

Mary C. Beaver Anderson (Marylee), 88, born in Austin on August 21, 1923 to parents Howard A. Beaver and Louise Grimes Beaver departed her earthly life on November 25, 2011. She spent her childhood in east Austin (10th ward) attending Metz Elementary, Allan Jr. High and graduating from Austin High School in 1941. She worked as a page at the state capital and then went to work for Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator. She married Leon Richard Anderson on January 15, 1944. After a few more years working, she became a fulltime mom, raising two sons and a neighborhood of children. A boy scout den mother, classroom mother at Zilker and Porter, baseball mother and Sunday school teacher, these were her calling in life. Her early years shaped her determination and her compassion for others. As a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church, her motto, as she told us often, was “the Lord never puts more on your plate than you could handle.”

Marylee was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, her parents, a brother, Frank Beaver, sisters-in-law, Peggy Beaver and Elfie Thomas, and brothers-in-law, Bruce Thomas and Vernon Streeter.

She is survived by son, Lee Roy Anderson and wife, Susan of Buda; granddaughter, Dawn Nicole Sheets and husband, Jay and great-grandson, Carter Sheets of Forney, TX; son, Carl E. Anderson and wife, Debbie of Buda and grandsons, Howard Anderson of Big Springs and Paul Anderson of Llano; brother, Leslie Beaver of Lockhart; sisters-in-law, Bernice Amy Streeter of Austin, Virginia Tschatschula and husband, Leroy of Houston and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff of Riverside Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their loving care of our mother during her stay there. Also, words cannot express our thanks to those that visited her during her confinement. Friends, church members and family have been a great comfort during this difficult time. We send our love to Jewel Anderson, Don Anderson, Brenda Langley and her family for their tireless efforts on behalf of our mother.

Funeral Services were held Monday, November 28, 2011, at Christ Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor John C. Stennfeld officiating. Interment followed at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville.

Memorials can be made to Christ Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Obituary and guestbook online at www.penningtonfuneralhome.com
