SUBMITTED REPORT

The tri-county Community Supervision and Corrections Department, more commonly known as Adult Probation, has named senior probation officer/district training officer Katy Bliss the recipient of the Leo A. Rizzuto Jr. Award for District Probation Officer of the Year.

Bliss is responsible for conducting and organizing training for district staff, which includes employees in Caldwell, Comal and Hays counties. A 10-year veteran of the department, Officer Bliss was nominated by her peers for “her dedication to the department, diligent work, relationship with her coworkers and probationers, and professionalism in all aspects of her duties.”

She is the ninth recipient of this annual award, which was presented by Director Rochelle C. Thomas.

The department presents the award to recognize outstanding service and the ideal qualities demonstrated by retired Chief Probation Officer Leo Rizzuto Jr., the tri-county’s first probation officer who at one time headed up the then-combined Adult and Juvenile Probation Department. He reviews the peer nominations for his namesake award and selects a winner.

The award was presented during a July 20 ceremony that was part of July 17-23 Probation, Parole and Community Supervision Week.
