Ollie Lee Boothe, 89, of Buda, passed away peacefully in her home Monday, May 23, 2011. She was born on April 4, 1922 in Valley Spring, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Solon Westbrook Boothe in 1979, her parents and 10 siblings.
She is survived by daughter, Jana Israel; son and daughter-in-law, Dell and Shelly Boothe; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
As a child Ollie spent her days tending the farm in the hot Texas sun with her family. As she had often commented, picking cotton was not her job of choice so she soon moved away from home and began work as a skillful beautician. She met her husband soon after and they married on May 22, 1952 in Eldorado, Texas. Together they made their home in Austin, Texas where they welcomed a wonderful daughter, Jana Lee, and then a handsome son, Hoyt Dell.
Ollie was a loved mother and grandmother who brought joy and laughter to all of those who were in her life. She was an amazing seamstress who put those skills to use throughout the years. She loved to be around her family and be entertained by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always up for a trip to the beach where she would collect beautiful seashells. Ollie was an active member of the Onion Creek Senior Citizens and Buda United Methodist Church. She lived in a tight community of friends where she enjoyed late afternoon conversations and built friendships she would forever cherish. She will also be remembered by her loving friends the Israel, Chavarria, and Marks families.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 28 at Buda United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Onion Creek Senior Citizens in Buda or a charity of one’s choice.
