Updated at 9:45 a.m.: Telephone service in the Kyle area has been restored. Anyone still experiencing problems should contact their service provider directly.
Previously: This just in from city of Kyle Spokesman Jerry Hendrix: Telephone lines, including 911, are down in the Kyle area. We are not sure how widespread this issue is at this time. Crews from AT&T and Verizon are on scene to work on the problem. 911 calls are routed to Hays County during this period. Some landline users may not have access to phone lines in some areas, including 911. If you have an emergency and can not reach 911 operators, please go to your nearest fire station or police station.
