It took the Buda Fire Department a little less than an hour to free a man from the wreckage of his Honda Civic after he veered off Dacy Lane near Buda and hit a tree. A medevac helicopter landed in a nearby field and took the man to the hospital where he is expected to recover. The driver, whose name was not immediately available, appeared to suffer broken bones but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Fire Chief Clay Huckaby said. The helicopter was called in because initially the man was unconscious when first responders arrived at the accident at about 3:20 p.m. State trooper Tim Gerloff is investigating.
