County seeks public input on roads

STAFF REPORT

If you’re opinionated about gridlock, bad paving, or the absence of sidewalks and bike lanes you can tell Hays County officials in person Dec. 1.

The first public workshop on creating a county transportation plan will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center on 501 E. Hopkins Street. Here you can talk one-on-one with officials, participate in a survey and point out areas of concern on a map. This is the first of three workshops; the other two will be in spring and summer of next year.

In July the Commissioners Court authorized its transportation consulting company, Parsons Brinkerhoff, to begin the process of updating the County’s 10-year-old plan, with directions to seek opinions and ideas from municipal governments and the public and to take into consideration potential growth in the County. The population of Hays County has grown by some 60,000 people since the original plan was developed.
