Inez Julie Benavidez, 18, of Kyle, was called to heaven to be with the angels on March 21, 2011. She was born in Plainview, Texas on October 30, 1992 and attended Live Oak Academy in Kyle. While she passed away tragically in a vehicle accident, she will be remembered as a hero for giving her own life for saving that of her niece, Serenity Salazar, during the incident.
She is survived by father, Javier Benavidez, Jr.; mother, Inez Julie Ann Flores; fiance, Jonathan Rodriguez; sister, Amy Benavidez; brother-in-law, Joe Salazar; brother, Fabian Benavidez; grandparents, Javier and Herminia Benavidez; uncles and aunts, Larry Benavidez and Pat Guerrero, Bo and Caridad Wallace and Simon Benavidez; first cousins, April, Alexis, Zachary, Jaxon and Levi; and family and friends.
A prayer service was held at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle on Friday, March 25, 2011, followed by funeral services on Saturday at Harrell Funeral Home, with Pastors Olivia Benavidez and Rene Rom officiating. Interment was at Live Oak Cemetery in Uhland. Pallbearers were Jerry Flores, Juan Vasquez, April Benavidez, Julian Galvan, Oscar Gamez, Jr. and Tito Alejandro Hernandez.
