Lehman and Hays high schools each won an award for college readiness based on their ACT exam scores and on the numbers of students taking the exam this year.
Over the past five years, scores from Hays and Lehman have steadily increased, according to the Texas ACT Council. The number of students taking this college entrance exam has also increased for both schools over the same period of time.
Only 10 percent of Texas high schools were given the college readiness award, according to a November news release from the council.
