USA Today says the % of American’s working is the lowest in 30 Years. Standard and Poor’s says there has been no meaningful effort to control the deficit and there is a 1 in 3 chance we will see a downgrade of US Debt from AAA to AA within two years.
“Fat Cat” developer’s demand schools we don’t need. We opened two new 800 student schools for 267 new students while other schools are hundreds of students below capacity already. We’re following the Federal Government plan, adding unneeded debt with our grandchildren’s money costing many times more than those built in the 90’s for the same capacity! We fought a war because of taxation without representation. The unborn can’t vote.
Did Rick Perry tell us to spend $1 million extra per year on the Spanish instruction program at Blanco Vista while telling Elm Grove Spanish had to be cut for “budgetary reasons”? Did Rick Perry tell us to operate Camino Real in the middle of a pasture because the developer demanding this school went bust and to attract students we are spending $2,400 more per student than at Elm Grove where we are cutting programs for “budgetary reasons”? Did Rick Perry tell us to spend $17,000/student at the disciplinary school? Did Rick Perry tell us to waste millions of dollars at the Academy so we can achieve 29% passing or less in 10th grade seven out of the last ten years? Did Rick Perry tell us to overstaff the Central Administration by over 20 people with only 36% living in the district? Did Rick Perry tell us we have so much extra space we should subsidize babysitting services for staff and provide free medical clinics for “economically disadvantaged” families? Did Rick Perry tell us to rent a school district house below market to a sitting school board member?
The “Fat Cats” are those living off the taxpayer’s right here! The only way out of this mess is to “just say no, no, no School Board instead of blaming the Legislature for cancelling the blank check.
