STAFF REPORT

Pedernales Electric Cooperative is encouraging members to vote in its 2011 election, in which early voting ends Friday, June 10. Members can also vote in the co-op’s annual meeting on June 18 in Johnson City.

In the election, members are voting to select directors for PEC board districts 2 and 3, and also to recommend to the board which system should be used for future director elections, at-large or single-member districts.

Although the two districts on this year’s ballot are for seats representing the Cedar Park, Leander and northwestern Austin area, any cooperative member can vote in the election.

In District 2, William D. (Bill) Boggs of Leander and Alan Yore of Cedar Park are running. In District 3, Stephen Thomas of Cedar Park, Kathy Scanion of Austin, Tom Gress of Cedar Park and Matthew Weldon of Austin are all running.

Members unable to attend the annual meeting can participate in the co-op election by voting online at https://www.esc-vote.com/pec2011 or by completing and mailing in their ballot by June 10. For information, call Election Services Corporation at (866) 720-4357 or send an e-mail to [email protected].

Family-friendly activities are scheduled inside and outside the facility prior to the official annual meeting, which will begin at 2 p.m. Meeting attendees will hear reports regarding the co-op’s activities during the past year, and members registering at the meeting will have a chance to win door prizes that include a retired PEC pickup truck;  energy-efficient Energy Star appliances and electric bill gift cards.

Meeting registration and voting will begin at noon, and voting will conclude at 2:30 p.m. Election results will be announced later in the proceedings. Complete PEC election and annual meeting information is available at www.pec.coop.
