Praise and prayers for all

Odds & Ends

by MYRTLE HEIDEMAN

St. John Lutheran Church received a clock handmade by Louis Carol Luerson and given in memory of his parents, Walter and Hertha Luerson, longtime members of St. John Church. A dedication service was held Sunday, July 31 during morning worship services. Fellowship and refreshments followed the church service, thanks to Erwin and Bobby Jean Hagedorn. Thanks to Louis Carol and Hortenise for the wonderful gift. The Luersons are living in Granbury, Texas.

Bryan and Brandy Mann of Austin are proud to announce the birth their daughter, Katherine Paige, born the 14th of July. She is also welcomed by big brother Gus. Grandparents are Judy Schnautz and the late H. J. Schnautz and James and Dolores Mann. Congratulations to all the family.

St. John Lutheran Church Women’s Guild met Saturday, August 6. After a carry-in lunch, the ladies held their business meeting during which they voted to send a check to Hemphill Elementary School to help purchase school supplies and to help teachers purchase supplies they need. The Harvest Festival was discussed which will be held in October.

Get well wishes go to David Janicki who was hospitalized with what was believed to be dehydration and turned out to be a serious problem. David is home after a three-day hospital stay. We wish him well and ask that you keep him in your prayers. Also keep Annie Karnstadt in your prayers. She is in Seton Hospital-Hays in serious condition on last report.

On the not-so-well list is George Lyons, who also needs our prayers.

Raymond and Myrtle Heideman are doing fair and are getting better everyday.

Debbie, Mike and Cooper Moore dropped by and brought the movie, “Soul Surfer.” What a wonderful “true story” movie. Young to old should see it and admire the courage of the young lady. Taking therapy for a broken hip is a piece of cake to what she had to endure (lots of tears).

Well, it’s almost “school time” again. Can’t believe we are in the month of August already and still no rain. We had a roadrunner come to the back door to beg for water. He shared with the dogs and no complaint was barked.
