Grab your partner and head out to the Buda VoAg dinner and dance on Saturday, August 13 from 6 p.m. until midnight at the Painted Horse Pavilion. This is the 6th annual event benefiting the Buda 4H and FFA. There will be a silent auction starting at 6 p.m. and live auction at 8:30 p.m.; barbeque meal served from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.; dance at 7:30 p.m. until midnight featuring the Sam Bentley Band. Kids under six are free, ages 7-13, $10 and 14 and over, $20. For advance tickets call 512-656-8808 or purchase at the door. The Painted Horse is located at 1750 South FM 1626.

The new school year begins Monday, August 15 at Santa Cruz Catholic School. The only Catholic school in Hays County currently has PreK through 6th grade with students coming from all around the Buda area.
Activity will pick up at all of our Hays CISD schools on Monday, August 15 with the official start date for staff. Hays students start classes on Monday, August 22.

Marriage lasting for many years seems to be a rarity these days so it is with great pleasure to wish the following longtime married couples a “happy anniversary:” LaVerne and Edison Thayer (60 years) on Aug. 11; Dorothy and Jim Doherty (57 years) on Aug. 14; Free Press folks, Cyndy and Jeff Barton (30 years) on Aug. 15; and Diane and Rev. A “42” domino tournament is scheduled for Friday, September 9 at the Onion Creek Senior Citizens Center in Buda. Cost is $5 per player, which includes a noon lunch.
