Buda parks receive pet waste grant

Buda Parks and Rec

by JACK JONES

The Plum Creek Watershed, in collaboration with the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, worked with area cities to estimate how many pet waste stations would be beneficial for city parks, trails and high traffic areas. TSSWCB utilized the Clean Water Act §319 (h) to purchase 18 pet waste stations for the city of Buda as well as supplies for a year from the grant. The pet waste stations will be located in various parks and along trails where pets are walked.

The City of Buda does have a Pet Waste Ordinance stating that the owner of every animal shall be responsible for the removal of any excreta deposited by their animal(s) on public walks, recreation areas, or private property. The ordinance was motivated by an effort to reduce one form of storm water pollution.
