The Hays High School Auto Team tuned up and turned in a strong performance at their recent Skills USA district competition in Waco, the effort earning trips for five team members to this year’s state competition. That state meet is set for the end of this month in Corpus Christi.
Three of the Rebels’ automatic transmission projects scored firsts in Waco, including the Team 1 combination of Nocona Brooks and Nathan Bloys, Team 2, made up of Kyle Williams and Connie Wozniak, and Josh Dupre as the sole Team 3 competitor.
Sponsor Paul Anderlitch reports that Nocona Brooks and Josh Dupre made it into the final round of the Automotive Skills contest, “rounding out the top ten out of approximately 100 competitors.”
Adding to the Hays CISD showing at Waco, Lehman High School’s Celestino Rivera’s engine project earned a second place.
