Join the reading club

Check It Out
by MARTHA SANDERS

Looking for some free, educational, and fun activities for your children this summer? Look no further than the Buda Public Library.

Join the summer reading club – a club with a twist. Participants read anything, anywhere, anytime. The only requirement: keep track of either the titles read or the time spent reading. The Buda Public Library offers two reading clubs – the Texas Reading Club and Texas Teen Reads. This year’s Texas Reading Club theme is “Dig Up a Good Book” and the Texas Teen Reads theme is “Going Global, Staying Connected.”

The goals of the reading clubs are to encourage the children and families of Texas to read for pleasure, to help children maintain and improve their reading skills and to encourage them to become lifelong readers and library users. Participants in the reading club keep track of their reading on reading logs provided by the library. Members earn prizes by completing and returning logs to the library. We will celebrate their reading successes at award ceremonies in August.

In addition to the reading clubs, the Buda Public Library also offers programs for students throughout June and July. Students can look forward to age appropriate activities such as painting, scrapbooking, puppet shows, exploring fossils, dinosaurs and many more. Go to www.budalibrary.org to see our summer brochure and to sign up for activities.

The Friends of the Buda Library will give a free “Dig Up A Good Book” t-shirt to all participants. Join the Friends by sending an email to [email protected]
