Roadrunners Fine Arts Night
Camino Real Elementary School hosts its Fine Arts Curriculum Night tomorrow evening, Thursday, Oct. 20. A PTA meeting is set for 5:30 p.m., immediately preceding the main program, which includes a kindergarten and 1st-grade performance of “Getting Down with Mama Goose,” 2nd and 3rd-grade presentations of tessellation projects, a 4th-grade respiratory system demonstration, and the 5th-grade’s “Welcome to the Water World” readers’ theater presentation on the water cycle and matter. The school’s Haunted House closes out the evening.
Denim & Diamonds tickets on sale
Tickets to this year’s Saturday, Nov. 12, Denim & Diamonds gala and fundraiser, hosted annually by the Hays CISD Education Foundation, are on sale now. Proceeds from the event go directly to providing innovative teaching grants to local classrooms, honoring the district’s top graduates, celebrating annual teachers of the year, and providing professional development grants for teachers. Tickets are $75 for individuals and $125 for couples.
Pet vaccination clinic Tuesday
A pet vaccination clinic will be held at Hemphill Elementary School next Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 5-7 p.m. Dr. John Tarlton will offer a complete yearly vaccine package for dogs and cats for $20. Individual vaccines and flea and heartworm preventative will also be available. Part of the clinic’s proceeds benefit activities at Hemphill.
Vets honored at Lehman
Lehman High School invites all veterans and active duty military members to its annual Veterans Day ceremony, set for Friday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m., in the Lobo gym. Sponsored by the Lehman Naval JROTC and Buda/Kyle VFW Post 12058, the event honors those in all branches of the military with the posting of colors, performances by the Lehman JROTC, choir, band, art, theatre arts and journalism departments, and a message from the VFW. Rebs seek help for free concert
Hays High School students are seeking all area supporters of Rebel Pride for help winning a free concert by The Josh Abbott Band through a KVET radio competition. To help, log onto KVET.COM and cast a vote. Voting began last week and continues through Friday, Oct. 28.
Supplies asked for Peru orphanage
A school supply drive is on through Negley Elementary School 2nd-grade teacher Andrea Hebert’s class.
