Lobos recognize survivors during Pink Week

Enjoying a moment at the recent Lehman High School “Pink Week” pep rally, cancer survivor Betty Kyle is seen holding the hand of her daughter, Lobo teacher Jennifer Hernandez, and enjoying the support of her granddaughter, Stella, while son-in-law Coach Luis Herrera and LHS Student Council Co-sponsor Erin Powell applaud and call for the support of the Pink Week pep rally crowd. Members of the Lehman High School Student Council showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month through “Pink Week” recently. Co-sponsor Erin Powell helped organize the week. She said, “There are many women in our community who have suffered, survived, or passed away from breast cancer. My mother is a survivor. This issue really reaches many of our students and we want an opportunity to celebrate the lives of those who have passed on, to celebrate those who have survived, and encourage those still in battle.”

Survivors were recognized at a Lehman High School pep rally where students were dressed not only in the traditional blue and silver, but pink to show support. Students sold bright pink t-shirts and all proceeds were donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
