Boo-da celebration to brew up good times

Dress up the kids in their favorite Halloween costume and come downtown Buda for the 9th annual Boo-da celebration on Thursday, Oct. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be Halloween stories, crafts, games and more at the Buda Public Library and trick-or-treating at local businesses along Main Street in downtown.


The windows at Buda Dental are dressed and ready for Boo-da Halloween. Also for the 4th year, the staff at Don Taylor’s dental office will buy your children’s Halloween candy from them. The date for the buy-back is November 2nd from 1 until 6 p.m.

Cecil Clark will celebrate his 99th birthday on Tuesday! Clark is a very active senior citizen who is still the caretaker of Live Oak Cemetery, a competitive 42 player and a deer hunter, who always gets his “buck.” Happy Birthday, Cecil Clark.

Wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Hal Odell who had gall bladder surgery last week at Seton-Hays and also to Raymond Heideman who had hip surgery two weeks ago at Seton-Hays. Al Theigpen had colon surgery at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos last Thursday. Prayers go out to all the men, as well as their families.

Join members of Hays Hill Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, to celebrate their 25th year anniversary. Founding pastor Vic Harris and many former staff members will be there. The church is located at 1401 North FM 1626.

Buda Book Buddies, the adult book club, will meet at the Buda Public Library on Tuesday, October 25 at 6 p.m. The book to be discussed is “House Rules” by Jodi Picoult.

See you in downtown Buda at the Buda Fine Arts Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 22 and 23. Also stop by Buda City Hall for a peek at the many beautiful quilts on display. Be sure to purchase a raffle ticket so that you will have a chance to win the queen size quilt that will be given away on Sunday, Dec. 4.
